I saw some Christmas pillows when I was browsing the shops on Black Friday, and I thought it would be fun to make similar ones as gifts. Those I saw were in cottons, with rick-rack and cotton pom-poms for trim, but my intended recipients have houses that are not that "country." I was in Calico Corners a couple of days later seeking upholstery fabric, saw these decorating fabrics and trims, and thought I'd use them to make the pillows for my friends' more formal house. The stiffer fabric was fun to work with--though it ravels easily, it needed no stabilizer for the embroidered labels I put on the backs or for the appliqué and trimwork, all done by machine.

They really turned out great! I was wondering as you were doing them how you were going to do it, but they really look terrific. And definitely country!!
