Paper Mock-Ups of a WIP

I took the two little unfinished quilts pictured a couple of posts back and photocopied them, along with a deep blue hand dye to use for the border that will also be an integral part of the design. I've made lots of designs with the photocopies, and moved around shapes over and over, and this is sort of what the composition is coming down to. Of course, quilting lines will add a lot (hopefully, good). Comments, anyone? Do you see a woman? A galaxy? Something else?

I wanted to cut and sew the actual quilt today, but I was still doing the soda ash thing preparing for Sue Benner's class. Even with a clear day, those yards and yards of soaked fabric wouldn't dry on the clothesline. So at sundown, they all came back into my living room, like last night. Maybe all that is an excuse for my indecision . . . or reluctance to take the big step of cutting up my quilts to combine them into one piece. But I have embraced the idea and look forward to what comes out of this -- from a design and a technical standpoint.

This is part of a Hollis Chatelain workshop challenge. As my friend Ilynn says, "It's all about process."
